We are happy to provide adapters for international electronic devices. Please ask us for them.

ARRIVAL (CHECK IN)

Check in is possible from 16.30 hrs. For an earlier arrival please contact us.

BABY BEDS

We are happy to provide you with a baby bed for an extra charge of CHF 10.00 if available.

​

BANK

There are two banks in the village of Reichenbach (Spar- und Leihkasse Frutigen, Raiffeisenbank) with counters and ATMs.

 

BED LINEN

We do not change the bed linen and bath towels up to a stay of 7 nights per week (bath towels up to 4 nights). However, if you need fresh bed linen or bath towels earlier, please contact us. We will be happy to bring you on request a second or different pillow, an extra blanket or a woolen blanket.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast can be reserved until 8 p.m. of the previous evening. It costs CHF 16.00 (children 5 - 11 years CHF 8.00). It consists of a vegetarian breakfast buffet with coffee, tea, orange juice, milk, rice milk, oat milk, bread, butter, jam, honey, cheese, muesli, yoghurt, fruit salads, nuts. It will be served from 07:30 to 10:00 a.m. We use mainly organic products.

COFFEE/TEA

A coffee machine and a selection of teas are available in the guest kitchen. Please help yourself. A cup of coffee costs CHF 2.00, a cup of tea CHF 1.00. You can pay cash in the cash box provided or by card or Twint before you leave.

DEPARTURE (CHECK OUT)

On the day of departure we ask you to leave the room the latest by 11 a.m. If you would like to deposit your luggage on the day of departure or require a later check-out, please contact us.

​

DOCTOR/PHARMACY

A "first aid" kit can be found in the guest kitchen on the large fridge. If you need a medical help, please contact us.

 

DOGS AND OTHER PETS

Dogs and other pets are not allowed in our guesthouse.

​

ENVIRONMENT

Wherever possible, we only use environmentally friendly products. Bed linen and towels are only changed after a certain length of stay (see above about bed linen).

​

FIRE DETECTORS

It can happen that one of the installed fire detectors goes off accidentally, e.g. if you have been showering for a long time and steam spreads. Make sure that it is a false alarm and then press the button on the underside of the fire detector until the alarm goes off.

​

FUEL STATIONS

In Reichenbach there is a petrol station without a store (Migrol) and two petrol stations with a store (Coop Pronto, Agrola) on the main road. Another petrol station with a store is located in Mülenen on the main road in the direction of Spiez. The stores are open daily from 6.00 to 22.00.

​

GAMES

In the lounge you will find a selection of games for all ages in the first cupboard of the buffet. There are also toys for children in the third cupboard. Please try them out. If you could return the games at their places after using, we would be grateful.

​

GUEST CARD

We will be happy to issue a guest card for your stay with us. This entitles you to free use of buses and trains in the Kandertal (to Kiental, Kandersteg and Adelboden). You also receive price reductions on mountain railroads and leisure activities in the region. Further information here.

GUEST KITCHEN

Our fully equipped guest kitchen is located on the terrace floor and is available to our guests. We ask you to wash and put pans, dishes, cutlery, etc. on places after use. Please also show consideration for other guests using the guest kitchen. You can store the food you have brought with you in free drawers or in the fridge.

​

HOT TUB

Use of the hot tub is possible for guests of the Bergengel from 6.00 p.m. Reservations must be made by the evening of the previous day. Maximum of four people at one time.

Price: CHF 90.00 (2 hours)

IN CASE OF FIRE

In case of a fire, please follow the fire escape plan displayed in your room and leave the building via the marked escape routes. The use of cooking appliances, immersion heaters or smoking, lighting candles or incense sticks is not permitted.

Would you like an iron or an ironing board? Please contact us.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES

You are in the middle of a beautiful hiking area that starts right on our doorstep. In winter you have various possibilities for alpine skiing (Adelboden, Elisgenalp), cross-country skiing (Kandersteg, Kiental) and tobogganing (Kiental). Popular excursion destinations nearby are the Niesen, Ramslauenen, Griessalp, Oeschinensee, Blausee and much more. We will be happy to advise you. You can also find detailed information here. Attractive destinations such as Grindelwald, Interlaken, Thun or Bern are easy to reach by train or car.

LUGGAGE

We are happy to help you with your luggage. You also have the option of storing your luggage with us before you check into your room or after check-out for the rest of the day of your departure.

 

PARKING SPACES

We have 6-8 free parking spaces for guests. Further parking spaces are available in the village of Reichenbach (1 km away) at a price of CHF 6.00/day.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The bus station is on the road, about 50 meters down the valley. From there you can travel in the direction of Kiental or Reichenbach. In Reichenbach you have connections to the train services to Frutigen, Kandersteg, Brig, Domodossola and to Spiez, Interlaken, Thun and Bern. Timetable at www.sbb.ch. With the guest card, the use of public transport during your stay in the Bergengel is free of charge with a few exceptions. Further information at meine-berge.ch/en/guestcard/.

 

RECYCLING
You can deposit the following recyclables in the guest kitchen next to the large fridge: Paper, cardboard, glass, PET and plastic bottles, clean plastic, tetrapack, tin and aluminum cans.

 

RESTAURANTS

There is a small selection of restaurants in the immediate vicinity:

• Gasthof Engelberg, Hanselenstr. 56, Scharnachtal; closed on Tuesdays; simple dishes, very nice panoramic terrace.

• Gasthaus Bären, Dorfstr 21, Reichenbach; fine cuisine, one of the oldest restaurants in the canton of Bern (documented since 1542).

• Restaurant Bahnhof, Bahnhofstr. 1, Reichenbach; closed on Thursdays; Swiss cuisine

• Bahnhof Pizzeria, Hauptstr. 20, Reichenbach; Mon closed; pizzas and kebabs, also to take away.
  
  Further restaurants can be found in Kiental (5 km), Frutigen (7 km) and Spiez (10 km).

 

SMOKING
The Bergengel is a non-smoking place. Smoking is only permitted outside the house.

In Reichenbach (1 km away, 15 min. on foot) you will find various stores for your daily needs:

​

• Bäckerei Rubin, Bahnhofstr. 56, Reichenbach; Closed Wed, Sun; bread, rolls, sandwiches, patisserie and groceries.

• Milch- und Käseprodukte Zurbuchen, Hauptstr. 23, Reichenbach; Closed Sun. Milk and cheese specialties.

• Coop Supermarkt, Hauptstr. 17, Reichenbach; Closed on Sun. Food and non-food items for daily needs.

• Metzgerei Martins, Bahnhofstr. 28, Reichenbach; Wed, Sun closed. Meat and sausage products.

• Drogerie von Känel, Bahnhofstr. 22, Reichenbach; Closed Wed and Sun. Drugstore goods, advice, various own products and mixtures.
   

You can also find groceries for your daily needs in the two petrol station stores Coop Pronto and Agrola on the main road in Reichenbach and BP in Mülenen. They are open every day from 6.00 to 22.00. You will find a wider range of stores in Frutigen (7 km), Spiez (10 km) and Thun (20 km).

VIEW
The Bergengel faces south with a view of the Kandertal valley. A little to the right, to the west, you can see the Niesen, which rises up like a mighty triangle. To the east is the Engelshorn. To the right is the entrance to the Kiental valley with the mighty Blüemlisalp mountain, which you can just barely see if you stand on the terrace in the far right front corner.
